Today, I got a surprise in the mail (okay, it wasn't really a surprise...I just wasn't expecting it quite so soon!). The little starter set I picked out for my daughter's "bento box" lunches has arrived and it looks great (of course, I will be adding on to it with some different shapes and things over time). We're both pretty excited about it. Here's a run down of what I got:
The EasyLunchbox 3-compartment Bento Lunch Box Containers. You get four of these in the package. They appear to be really sturdy, very solid plastic and my daughter *can* open it (score!). It is NOT leak-proof, so you do have to be careful about putting liquid things inside of it. It is also a pretty good size container, 9 inches by 6 inches and 2 inches deep. So, you will need to have a fairly large lunchbox for your child to be able to fit it. Also, I find that when putting it into my daughters new lunchbox, there is no room for a drink that is any larger than a juice box (so, I am glad I did not get that matching Barbie thermos I wanted).
This is the lunchbox I picked out for my daughter. It's just the right size at 10 inches by 8 inches, 2 inches deep. You'll need to pay attention to the dimensions if you plan on having these EasyLunchbox's.
I picked up this cookie cutter, which is pretty large. It will have to be used on sandwiches only. I'm not too sure how often it will actually be used since my daughter is not a big fan of sandwiches anyway. But, you never know.
I got this flower cookie cutter set, mostly so that I can cut up cheese and meats. I love the little case it comes in. Very easy to store.
Cool Coolers Lunch Ice Pack. These fit nicely into the lunchbox along with the containers.
These are the cupcake holders I bought to hold small things like grapes, etc. Plus, they look cute. My daughter was already picking out which color she wants in her lunchbox on the first day of school.
I'm so glad to be doing this because, even though right now it's a little costly, I will save tons of money when all three of my kids are in school. I don't have to buy this stuff again. I can reuse it for my other two children when they get into school (my middle child starts going next year and my youngest goes the year after). Plus, I don't have to waste money buying pre-packaged food that my daughter will throw half away because she doesn't like it (*cough* Lunchables *cough*). And, it's not nasty tasting school food (my daughter refuses to stand in line anyway...@_@).

Nicely done, Ashley! Dylann really enjoys the bento boxes too! And it also makes me feel good as a mom, to create something fun and nutritious! Good luck to you!! ♥
